Time changes everyone: aging, personality, fashion and legacy
A long career should leave a mark on the coach, the roster and the people who follow them.

The stadium can change over time. Now the people need to change with it.
I’m adding more character to coaches and making long careers visible in the portraits. It seems unreasonable that I should get older while my pixel counterpart remains suspiciously fresh forever.
What changed since the tour and stadium update
- Coach appearance can be saved and edited. Build, skin, hair, clothing, headwear and facial hair carry into the profile and matchups.
- Coaches age across the career. The visual model spans a fifty-season career; players show milder changes across their shorter playing lives.
- Retirement preserves the last appearance. A retired player doesn’t regenerate as a fresh rookie, and walk-on dads can begin with older faces.
- Player measurements shape the bust. Height and weight affect the drawing while leaving football ability alone.
- Superstars have distinctive faces. Squared jaws and saved individual details share the existing portrait rules.
- Fashion changes by generation. Four haircut styles enter each ten-season cohort; existing players keep their saved look.
- Coaches have eighteen archetypes. Their priorities influence recruiting, training, contracts, trades, preparation and stadium plans.
- Contract Boost is temporary. Age and played seasons help scale it; kickoff fixes the match input without rewriting saved base talent.
- Biographies have more combinations. Authored hobbies, histories, tall tales and conditional details form more than six million possible backstory combinations.
- The coach career has a finale. Fifty seasons lead to a statistical farewell and New Game+, with explicit successor rules.
Plenty of personalities to work around
The archetypes are Aggressive, Careful, Teacher, Analyst, Showman, Traditionalist, Cheap & Mean, Generous, Corporate Synergizer, Mad Scientist Coordinator, Hollywood Primadonna, Unstoppable Robo-Linebacker, Bitter Booster, Golden-Hearted Goofball, Grumpy Old-School Relic, Bench-Warming Mystic, Concrete Wall and Overzealous Mascot.
They influence the five play styles as well as management priorities. They aren’t the same as earned permanent traits or temporary Momentum, which get their own treatment next time.
Keep the changes in their proper places
Cosmetic aging, playing-season retirement, contract satisfaction and talent development are separate systems. A gray hair shouldn’t secretly change a passing rating. A smile can reflect satisfaction while a separately calculated boost handles its football effect.
And the backstory count is exactly that: possible combinations of background material. It isn’t a claim of six million distinct portraits. That would be a remarkable amount of drawing to take credit for.
Joe also has a hidden Froggy Dog developer drawer for inspecting development information. Some checks work on a separate copy; others are read-only. It helps me look at the game without making Joe responsible for every operation.
Retirement, including bankruptcy, needs a farewell based on the real career and its consequences. I want a successor to inherit a franchise with history, not an unexplained reset.
Next Joe’s advice becomes more specific, and the league gets a recorded past before the new coach arrives.
